Chiropractors Act 1994

The General Chiropractic Council (GCC) currently regulates the chiropractic treatment of humans, and only practitioners who are registered with the GCC may legally use the title “Chiropractor”. Animal practitioners are not eligible to join the GCC as it is only concerned with human treatment; their independent regulation does not extend to the treatment of animals. Helen is not qualified to treat humans, and is therefore not eligible to join the GCC. She therefore does not describe herself as a chiropractor, chiropractic practitioner, chiropractitioner, chiropractic physician, or any other kind of chiropractor, and does not wish to imply that she is any of the above. This is in compliance with section 32 of the Chiropractors Act 1994.

Further information about the Regulation of Chiropractors can be found on their website at http://www.gcc-uk.org/

Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966

The treatment of animals is currently regulated under the Veterinary Act 1966, making it illegal for any person to treat an animal unless they are either a Veterinary Surgeon or a recognised paraprofessional with veterinary consent to treat the animal. McTimoney Animal Practitioners are recognised as paraprofessionals under the Veterinary Surgeons (Exemptions) Order 2015. Therefore, it is a legal requirement for veterinary permission to be granted before a McTimoney treatment may take place.
